The concierge is enriched with live news headlines and local events so guests can ask "What's in the news?" or "What's happening this weekend?" and receive real, up-to-date answers. A 12-icon quick action grid gives guests one-tap access to common requests in all 12 languages — including World News, Trending Topics, Sports Scores, and Local Events.

Powered by TheNewsAPI for true real-time delivery — articles appear as they are published, with a 15-minute server cache and automatic re-fetch on window focus. The news section features a fully redesigned premium card-based layout: each headline is a tappable card with a bold title, source badge, and relative timestamp (e.g., "BBC · 2h ago"). Every card links directly to the full article in a new tab. Articles published within the last 30 minutes automatically display a red 🔴 Breaking pill, and a pulsing green ● Live badge in the section header signals real-time data. Guests browse 5 articles per category across an 8-tab horizontally scrollable strip — all tab labels are fully translated into all 12 supported languages. A manual refresh button lets guests force a live fetch at any time.

A live upcoming events strip in the guest welcome screen shows the next 3 concerts, sports games, shows, and theater performances happening within 20 miles of the hotel. Events are pulled directly from Ticketmaster, cached hourly, and automatically invalidated at midnight so past events never appear. Every event card is fully interactive — guests can tap the event name to open a full-screen event detail modal with the complete poster image, Broadway or segment badge, full event description, date, time, venue, and a large 🎫 Get Tickets button. A built-in Get There travel grid on every card and in the detail modal gives guests instant access to Directions, Uber, Lyft, and Transit — so they can get to any event in one tap. Event names in the homepage “Next 7 Days” strip are also clickable, navigating directly to the Local Events tab.

Broadway and Off-Broadway shows are surfaced in a dedicated section at the very top of the Local Events tab, giving them premium placement so guests immediately see what's on stage during their stay. Shows are pulled live from Ticketmaster's API using the hotel's location and automatically classified as Broadway or Off-Broadway using Ticketmaster's genre fields plus a fallback list of known NYC theater venues — Richard Rodgers, Shubert, Majestic, Gershwin, and more. Each show card displays the full poster image (never cropped), show name with a colored Broadway or Off-Broadway badge, date, time, venue, and a Today badge in red when the show is performing that day. Tapping the show name opens a full-screen detail modal with the complete poster, full event description, date/time/venue, a 🚗 Get There travel grid (Directions, Uber, Lyft, Transit), and a large 🎟 Get Tickets on Ticketmaster CTA. Travel buttons are also available directly on every card. A bookmark icon lets guests save any show to My Favorites for quick reference. Filter pills at the top of the Local Events section let guests instantly narrow by Broadway, Off-Broadway, Music, Sports, Arts & Theatre, and more — zero manual curation required.

The dedicated 🏆 Scores tab shows real game scores — not just headlines — powered by ESPN's public API. Covers 13 leagues: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, WNBA, MLS, Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, ATP Tennis, PGA Golf, Formula 1, and UFC. Each game card displays team names, logos, current score, game status (Scheduled / Live / Final), and period or quarter detail. A pulsing green LIVE badge appears on in-progress games. Scores refresh automatically every 3 minutes.

Guests tap the bell icon on any game to subscribe to live score alerts. The browser requests notification permission on first tap. A background service checks subscribed games every 60 seconds — when a game goes from Scheduled to Live, guests receive a 🟢 Game Started! browser notification. When the game ends, a 🏁 Final Score notification delivers the result instantly. Subscriptions are saved to the guest's device and survive page reloads. The bell turns yellow when subscribed; tap again to unsubscribe. Completed games do not show the bell.

On first visit, a friendly name prompt asks guests who they are — with a “Continue as Guest” privacy option for those who prefer anonymity. The name is stored only on the guest’s device and never sent to any server. Once set, the welcome screen greets guests personally: “Good evening, James — here’s what’s happening today.” A discreet “Not you?” link allows a second guest or room companion to update the name instantly. The welcome header also displays the current temperature with a live weather icon (☀️ ⛅ 🌧️ ❄️) directly beneath the hotel name — so guests see the conditions at a glance the moment they open the app, without scrolling to the weather widget. Language preferences, voice settings, and accessibility options are all saved locally for a seamless experience across return visits.

Every listing is individually selected and approved by your hotel — so guests trust every recommendation. Your own hotel outlets are automatically pinned to the top of every relevant category, ensuring guests see your restaurant, bar, and spa first. The interactive neighborhood map is always visible as a persistent right-side column across every tab and every screen size — so guests always have a live map reference no matter what section they’re browsing.

Real-time departure times, service alerts, and live weather are all displayed in one place so guests can plan their entire day without leaving the app.
